Meta (Menlo Park, Calif.), formerly known as Facebook, is planning to open its first store in Burlingame, Calif., this May 9, CNBC reports. Aiming to inform customers about the “metaverse” as well as sell virtual reality headsets and other accessories.

Martin Gilliard, Head of Meta Store, says, “The Meta Store is going to help people make that connection to how our products can be the gateway to the metaverse in the future. We’re not selling the metaverse in our store, but hopefully people will come in and walk out knowing a little bit more about how our products will help connect them to it.”

Set at 1550 square feet, the space will feature an interactive Quest 2 display wall which allows you to explore software and accessories; a demo area showcases a wall-to-wall curved LED screen that displays what shoppers are seeing through the headset in real time. At the end of a demo, customers can also take home a 30-second clip of their demo experience.

In a press release, the company states, “At the Meta Store, we want you to interact with everything. We want you to pick stuff up. We want you to feel it.”
