Microsoft (Redmond, Wash.) is in negotiations to open its first ever New York City retail store on Fifth Avenue, according to the Daily News.

The 677 Fifth Avenue unit near 53rd Street is in close proximity to Microsoft’s biggest rival Apple’s iconic glass cube store. The 8700-square-foot, two-story space was last occupied by Fendi, which departed the building last year for a spot on Madison Avenue.

The tech giant tested the New York waters in 2012, when it opened a temporary pop-up shop in Times Square for the holidays. It’s been on the hunt for a more permanent home since then, according to the Daily News.
