Neiman Marcus Opens Long Island Store

With contemporary interior, technological features

Neiman Marcus (Dallas) opens its first store on New York’s Long Island today.

The interior of the 105,649-square-foot, two-level store is inspired by a “Cubist gallery” and features contemporary, colorful art throughout by artists hailing from Long Island and New York.

The exterior of the store was designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects of Boston and features a roofline that is raised at the ends so that it mimics the company’s symbol of butterfly wings. More than 2000 aluminum panels decorate the exterior and a granite frame in front mimics a fashion runway.

It also features a variety of technological elements to improve the customer experience, including two “memory mirrors” that capture images and videos of what customers try on so that they can compare outfits side by side with 360-degree views, reports Women’s Wear Daily
