Nordstrom Seattle Debuts In-Store Bar

Food, drink concepts prevalent in remodeled store

Nordstrom’s (Seattle) downtown Seattle location debuted its new in-store bar, Habitant, last week. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, shoppers at the locale, which is currently halfway through a major two-year renovation, can now enjoy a respite as well as a cocktail as they shop at the well-appointed department store.

The lounge reflects the store's sleek, modern and open concept. The store features natural light as well as food and beverage concepts on nearly every floor. Its renovation, when complete, will expand sales floor space by 30,000 square feet, as some supply rooms are moved to the basement level.

Nordstrom is also executing similar renovations at its stores in San Francisco and Chicago. Although the company declined to comment on the cost of the renovations, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission documents revealed that the Nordstrom will shell out $1.2 billion in capital expenditures this year. The figure reflects the cost of the remodels, as well as expansion into Canada and the construction of a new fulfillment center.
