Nordstrom Inc. (Seattle) has signed a commitment to open a new store at the new Mall at Oyster Bay (Syosset, N.Y.). The three-level, 150,000-square-foot store is scheduled in the fall of 2007, concurrent with the shopping center's completion, which is being developed by Taubman Centers Inc. (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.).

“We're excited to expand our presence in the northeast and specifically on Long Island,” said Erik Nordstrom, the retailer's executive vp, full-line stores. “The Mall at Oyster Bay will be a great shopping destination.”

“Nordstrom, along with other luxury tenants, will set the tone for the finest shopping experience on Long Island,” said chairman, president and ceo Robert Taubman. “The Mall at Oyster Bay will combine the essential ingredients of convenience and superior store merchandising, making this shopping center a true world-class destination.”

This will be Nordstrom's third full-line store in New York State. Nordstrom Roosevelt Field (Garden City, N.Y.) opened in 1997 and Nordstrom at The Westchester (White Plains, N.Y.) in 1995.
