Oakley Opens Store in New York … And More Industry News

STORE OPENINGS

Performance eyewear retailer Oakley (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) will open a store in New York’s Times Square this month. The new store will include a custom bar where customers can create their own renditions of Oakley eyewear and goggles and an on-site etching machine for engraving sunglasses.

MANAGEMENT CHANGES

Charming Shoppes (Bensalem, Pa.), a multi-brand apparel retailer specializing in women’s plus apparel, promoted Anthony Ramano to president, ceo and director of the company. He recently served as acting ceo, following the resignation of James Fogarty. The retailer also promoted Brian Woolf to group president of Lane Bryant, Lane Bryant Outlet and Cacique.

Global design firm Fitch (Columbus, Ohio) promoted Vicy Leavitt to managing director of North America. She previously served as managing director of the Columbus, Ohio office. Fitch also named Christian Davies as executive creative director, Stephen Jay as North American strategy director and Craig Kavicky as North American business development director.

Timothy Farah, vp, men’s design, left high-end fashion retailer Club Monaco (New York) after a two-year stint. His replacement has not yet been announced.

Luxury ready-to-wear retailer Ports 1961 (Toronto) hired Klaus-Peter Saltzmann as senior director of sales and merchandising for North America. Saltzmann formerly served as men’s wholesale manager for the Americas at Lanvin. Ports 1961 launched its debut men’s collection in Milan in January.

TD Bank made Cindy Stover market president of retail banking and Kimberly Hazelton senior vp of retail banking. Stover will be responsible for the commercial, government and community banking business for the North Florida market, while Hazelton will lead retail banking sales and service.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Design firm Chute Gerdeman (Columbus, Ohio) launched a new brand positioning and website. The redesigned website offers access to capabilities, case studies, industry focus and news.

Digital imaging manufacturer InteliCoat Technologies (South Hadley, Mass.) has partnered with large-format media distributer Sentec International BV and its affiliate Plottec GmbH to serve the European, Middle East and African markets.

Schawk Retail Marketing (Des Plaines, Ill.) received one gold and two bronze awards at the 2011 Retail Advertising & Marketing Association (RAMA) competition. Schawk earned a gold Retail Award for Creativity, Innovation and Excellence (RACIE) for Lord & Taylor’s Christmas “Share” catalog. The group also earned a bronze medal in the social commerce category for its Kmart fall apparel video. In the in-store collateral category, Schawk won a bronze award for The Home Depot Martha Stewart Living Paint Guide.
