Neal Goldberg, a former Limited and Macy's executive, has been hired by Gap Inc. (San Francisco) as executive vp for the company's outlet division. Goldberg succeeds Ed Stair, who was said to have resigned.

Goldberg, who will report directly to Gap president and ceo Millard Drexler, will oversee all aspects of the division that operates the company's 196 Gap Outlet, Banana Republic Factory and Old Navy Outlet stores. The division's annual sales in fiscal 2000 exceeded $1 billion.

Goldberg was most recently senior vp and chief stores officer for Victoria's Secret Beauty stores, part of The Limited's Intimate Brands, Inc. He previously served for more than 16 years with Macy's, where he was senior vp and general manager for Macy's flagship Herald Square store.
