Re-Stored Residential

Kate Spade's New Accessory House Looks the Part

Published

on

Kate Spade, known for its luxurious handbags, shoes, stationery, scarves and gloves, has opened its fourth boutique, in Greenwich, Conn.

Architects Rogers Marvel (New York), designer Steven Sclaroff (New York) and general contractors Richter+Ratner Contracting Corp. (Maspeth, N.Y.) returned the building back to its residential appearance. The facade's granite based was replaced with brick to match the surrounding buildings, and clear glass windows were installed to allow a direct view of the interior.

The 1000 square-foot interior is clean and modern. Contrast is created between the dark, mahogany floors and white walls. Clear, glass recessed shelving is balanced with graphic merchandise vignettes.
