The nation's first-ever New York Times Bookstore will open today in Blue Grass Airport, Lexington, Ky.

The concept is being developed by The Paradies Shops (Atlanta), operator of more than 350 concession shops in about 60 airports throughout the U.S. and Canada. It is also the exclusive licensee of Brooks Brothers, CNBC, PGA Tour and The Times.

The store features an online station with access to The New York Times web site, a plasma screen television running excerpts and programming from the Discovery Times Channel, a children's section, New York Times gift and specialty items, books from the Times' bestseller list and daily newspapers.

Joining the opening-day festivities will be Times best-selling author Rita Mae Brown, signing her new murder mystery novel, “The Hunt Ball.”

“The demographic of the Lexington area is rich in heritage and diverse culture, providing a wonderful opportunity for building a destination celebrating The New York Times Company brand,” said Paradies chairman Dick Dickson.
