Saks Windows Celebrating Dior

Luxury brand will dominate store’s Fifth Avenue showcase during N.Y. Fashion Week

Saks Fifth Avenue (New York) is devoting 17 windows of its flagship store, along Fifth Avenue and down both 49th and 50th streets, to the House of Dior.

The presentation coincides with New York Fashion Week, which begins tomorrow (Sept. 5, 2013).

Women’s Wear Daily reports that Dior, Saks and actress Jessica Biel will be part of an event on Friday night with an event that incorporates an “art walk” and culminates with a party on the third floor in a space reprising Dior creative director Raf Simons’ show set for the fall collection, “all-mirrored balloons reflecting a floor painted to resemble a cloud-dotted sky.”

All categories of Dior products — from Simons’ new ready to wear collection to men’s wear to fine jewelry — are being showcased.

Saks president and chief merchandising officer Ron Frasch said the Dior collaboration was a year in the making, and “we thought why not do it when New York has all eyes on it for fashion week?”

“These are the type of events which are very effective in conveying the image and telling the story of Dior,” Dior ceo Sidney Toledano told Women’s Wear. Dior has also staged large-scale presentations recently at Printemps in Paris, Harrods in London and GUM in Moscow.
