Starbucks Plans 1300 Openings in 2013

Starbucks Coffee Co. (Seattle) announced that it plans to open 1300 new stores in the Americas, Asia Pacific and China next year, the Los Angeles Times reports. Many of those new locations will be in the U.S. and China; approximately 600 openings are planned for each country. The expansion is part of the company’s plan to operate 20,000 retail locations by 2014, ceo Howard Schultz told the Times.

The company also reported a 7-percent same-store sales increase in the Americas for the fiscal quarter ending September 30, the Times reports.
