Starbucks Reserve Roastery Flagship Opens

Targets high-end coffee aficionados

Starbucks (Seattle) has opened its Starbucks Reserve Roastery flagship today in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

The 15,000-square-foot unit is intended to attract affluent coffee drinkers who desire both high-end blends and amenities. The store offers designer foods and craft coffees, including Reserve coffee, which is sourced in small batches and sells for more than $20 a pound. Part retail store, part manufacturing facility and part theater, the store intentionally evokes the “chocolate room” where Augustus Gloop met his fate in the classic movie Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, reports The New York Times.

Starting next year, Starbucks plans to open 100 “Reserve-only” locations around the globe, according to Bloomberg.
