on

Retail veteran Jeff Sherman has been named ceo of Limited Stores, effective March 4. Sherman succeeds Rob Bernard, who resigned as president and ceo earlier this month.

Sherman will provide leadership and direction for the operational aspects of the business, and will share marketing responsibilities with Diane Holtz, who was named president of Limited Stores earlier this month and will now report to Sherman.

?Jeff adds great breadth and depth to the business,? says Leslie Wexner, chairman and ceo of The Limited, Inc. (Columbus, Ohio). ?I have tremendous confidence in both he and Diane as individuals, and I believe that together they will be an even more powerful team.?

Sherman joins The Limited, Inc. from Federated Direct, where he served as chairman and ceo, responsible for managing Macys.com, Bloomingdales-by-Mail and Fingerhut. Prior to that, he spent 30 years at Bloomingdale's, holding numerous positions before becoming president.

The Limited Inc., through Express, Structure, Lerner New York, Limited stores and Henri Bendel, operates 1,997 specialty stores. The company owns approximately 84 percent of Intimate Brands Inc., the leading specialty retailer of intimate apparel, beauty and personal care products sold through 2617 stores under the Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works and White Barn Candle Co. brands.
