Walmart Names Head of Latin American Unit

Leader of the retailer’s Mexican operations promoted to regional post

Walmart Stores Inc. (Bentonville, Ark.) has promoted Eduardo Solorzano to executive vp, president and ceo of Walmart Latin America. Solorzano, currently president and ceo of Walmart de Mexico, will oversee Walmart's operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico.

In addition to his new regional role, Walmart de Mexico announced that it has elected Solorzano chairman of the board. The company also announced that Scot Rank, Walmart de Mexico's executive vp and coo, has been named to replace Solorzano as head of the Mexican unit.

“Eduardo Solorzano's experience in Mexico makes him the best candidate to lead our Latin American operations,” said Walmart Intl. ceo Doug McMillon. “Walmart de Mexico is our most successful Latin American operation, and with this appointment, Eduardo can further enhance all our businesses in the region.”

Based in Walmart's Latin American regional office in Miami, Solorzano will assume his new role Jan. 18.
