99 Cents Only Sees Fourth Quarter Growth

99 Cents Only Stores (Commerce, Calif.) reports total sales of $378.5 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011 ended April 2, 2011. That’s up from $339.3 last year. Total sales for the first thirteen weeks of the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011 were $350.6 million.

The company’s fourth quarter same-store sales growth was 0.5 percent.
“We are encouraged that our same-store sales improved compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2011,” says ceo Eric Schiffer.

During the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011, the company opened five stores: three in California, one in Arizona and one re-opened company-owned Texas store. Founded 25 years ago, 99 Cents Only Stores operates 285 extreme value retail stores consisting of 211 stores in California, 35 in Texas, 27 in Arizona, and 12 in Nevada.
