Uniqlo to Open 30 New Stores Per Year in North America

Uniqlo (Tokyo) is plotting to open 30 new stores in North America annually over the next five years, which would take the casualwear brand’s door count in the region to 200, WWD reports.

Daisuke Tsukagoshi, CEO of Uniqlo USA, announced the expansion plans at a recent press conference. They come on the heels of a glittering financial report for parent company Fast Retailing, which also operates the Theory fashion label and the lower-priced GU casualwear brand.

Fast Retailing notched a record-high profit for the first half of the fiscal year, the article says. Net profit jumped by 38.7% to a total of $1.17 billion. Sales increased 1.3% over the same period.
