Cannabis retailer Fika (Toronto) has opened a flagship location at Toronto’s Union Station, which the brand says is the world’s first cannabis store to be located in a major transportation hub.

It was designed by Montreal-based GH+A Design Studios, which incorporated herringbone flooring and white oak slat walls as the store’s hallmark features.

A press release from Fika says the design firm’s goal was to merge warm tones with materials like corten steel and walnut to create a sense of familiarity inside the station, commonly referred to as “Canada’s busiest building” with 300,000 people passing through the hub daily.

The new flagship is the cannabis brand’s 18th location. It also marks the debut of Fika’s Express Bar, a curated selection of top-selling items aimed at helping customers shop quickly.

Fika is the exclusive cannabis store for Union Station, joining a handful of other retailers opening at the station in 2022 as part of its multi-year renovation project.
