Fashion brands showcase offerings at the Milan Furniture Fair

The Salon del Mobile, or Milan Furniture Fair as it is known across the English-speaking world, is a highlight of the year as far as the interior design sector is concerned. This is where the need-to-know crowd goes to sample the prevailing zeitgeist and to get some sense of what’s coming next. And while the Salon del Mobile is where the big furniture brands come to show off (think Vitra or perhaps Fornasetti) inroads are increasingly being made by fashion brands as well.

Indeed, if the 2014 fair were to be characterized by anything, it would be the way in which names such as Armani, Ungaro and Pierre Cardin have shown ranges alongside more traditional furniture manufacturers and designers. This is a show for all-comers (close to 1500 exhibitors and nearly 300,000 visitors) and although the bulk of the action takes place at the edge-of-city Rho fairgrounds, there are smaller exhibitions across the city. This year the show ran from April 8-13 and takes place from April 14-19 in 2015.
