Lululemon Athletica Inc. (Vancouver, B.C.) has removed its black signature Luon yoga pants off the shelves because the sheer material reveals too much.

The company says it is not sure why the pants are so sheer, since it hasn’t changed the materials used, but it is talking to its suppliers. In making its statemnent, it referred to “a mistake by the supplier.”

Roger Lo, cfo Eclat Textile Co. in Taiwan said the clothes it manufacturers “aren’t problematic.”

“All shipments to Lululemon went through a certification process which Lululemon had approved,” Lo said. “All the pants were manufactured according to the requirements set out in the contract with Lululemon.”

The retailer is offering refunds to customers who bought them, even though the recall may cut its first-quarter sales by 3-4 percent. Lululemon shares slipped more than 6 percent in after-hours trading following the news.
