Best Buy Co. (Richfield, Minn.) ceo Brian Dunn has resigned from his position and will step down from the board, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The announcement comes a few weeks after the struggling consumer electronics retailer announced a turnaround strategy, including staff layouts and 50 big-box store closings this year.

Dunn began his career with the company as a store manager and worked his way up the corporate ladder over his 28-year career.

Board member G. Mike Mikan will serve as interim ceo until a replacement is found.
