Sydney’s IKEA store recently tested a play space for husbands and boyfriends to take a break from shopping. The “Mänland,” during a four day trial, offered free hot dogs, Xbox consoles, pinball machines and televised sports coverage, according to Springwise.

Women were given a buzzer so they wouldn’t forget to pick up their companions when 30 minutes of shopping was done. The idea was modelled after the Delft, Netherlands-based company's existing child play area Smaland, says publicity manager Jude Leon.

“Despite most men dreading a trip to the shops, we still attract a high proportion of male customers,” Leon says in a new.com.au article. “So we’re expecting the scheme to be a real success with both sexes.”
