Animal rights groups are protesting outside newly opened Canada Goose (Toronto) stores in New York as well as in Toronto.

The protesters allege the retailer uses brutal tactics in its use of leg-hold traps to capture wild coyotes for their fur and geese for their down, reports Women’s Wear Daily. Protestors passed out leaflets featuring a bloody Canada Goose patch with the the words “Proudly torturing animals since 1957.”

“Canada Goose remains deeply committed to the responsible use and ethical sourcing of all animal materials in our products,” said a Canada Goose spokesperson. “We do not condone any willful mistreatment, neglect, or acts that maliciously cause undue pain, injury or suffering toward animals.”
