Neiman's Slips in March

Luxury retailer reports a 3.3 percent same-store decline

The Neiman Marcus Group Inc. (Dallas) has announced a 3.3 percent decrease in same-store sales for the five-week period of March 2003.

The luxury retailer, whose stores include Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, said that revenue growth trends were the strongest in its Northeastern stores. The best-performing merchandise categories included women's contemporary sportswear, dresses and suits. Additionally, sales of designer handbags, cosmetics, and ladies' and men's shoes were strong in March.
