Ex-Mossimo president to head marketing for All Conditions Gear division

Rob Mitchell, whose resume includes executives positions at International Management Group and Mossimo, has been named marketing director of the All Conditions Gear (ACG) division of Nike (Beaverton, Ore.).

He will have the primary responsibility of leading the development and execution of the Nike ACG brand strategy in the United States, as well as integrating the functions of advertising, communications, retail marketing and image design. He will report to Trip Randall, Nike ACG U.S. general manager.

Mitchell most recently served as president and coo of Trailworks.com, an Internet-based technology company that created custom maps for outdoor recreation activities. Prior to that, he co-founded Fresheye, a full-service marketing consulting firm. The previous three years were spent with Nike, both as a general manager of women's apparel and director of organized team sports. And before that, he had been vp of IMG's sport technology division and president and coo for Mossimo, Inc.

Mitchell was on the men's volleyball team at the University of Southern California, and an assistant coach on USC's national championship team in 1988. Nike says its all-conditions executive is now active in climbing, mountain biking and backcountry skiing.
