Virgin stores introduce MegaPlay kiosks for holiday shoppers

Virgin Entertainment Group (Los Angeles) will launch MegaPlay kiosks throughout their 23 North American megastores for the holiday season. The kiosks provide instant access to a database of over 2.4 million CD tracks and 10,000 DVD movie trailers through a touch-screen interface.

To encourage shoppers to go into stores and try out the MegaPlay kiosks, Virgin created “Holiday Hero Week” and has distributed over 2 million Holiday Hero Cards nationwide for a special Scan and Win promotion that runs from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1, 2002. Customers can bring the cards into any Virgin Megastore and scan the barcode to find out what Heroic prize they've won. Prizes include trips to London, Virgin Mobile Phones, shopping sprees and special discounts on in-store merchandise.
