3Q income was up, versus losses in 3Q 2001

Limited Brands (Columbus, Ohio) announced a 6 percent increase in adjusted sales and a 3 percent increase in same-store sales for its third quarter ending Nov. 2, 2002.

While reported income figures plummeted from a year ago, adjusted operating income was up roughly 200 percent and adjusted net income was up roughly 180 percent from a year ago (when the retailer reported losses in income). The adjustments reflected the company's sale of its Lane Bryant division (to Charming Shoppes Inc. in 2001) and the recombination of its Intimate Brands Inc. subsidiary.
