Heilig-Meyers sells its John M. Smyth stores to Rhodes

Heilig-Meyers, the Richmond,Va.-based furniture retailer reorganizing under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, has sold the assets of its John M. Smyth's Homemakers Stores to Rhodes, Inc. (Atlanta), the furniture-store chain it once owned. Rhodes said it plans to operate the Smyth's stores, most of which are in the Chicago area, as an ongoing business.
