LaPelle

These aren't just any old shoes and purses, and designers had to communicate that when they created the La Pelle leather goods store in Honolulu's exclusive Ala Moana Shopping Center. But they also had to make sure the store environment projected “high quality” without being visually intimidating. AM Partners, Honolulu, also had to work around a row of structural columns just off the centerline of the store. Their solution was a theme of curved forms, seen in ceiling panels, custom casework, lighting fixtures, furnishings and in serpentine carpeting that guides customers through the store. The tricky columns were fitted with sculptural benches, and designers used a warm, contrasted palette of light woods, mauve and seafoam green.
