Chinese Theatre

Hollywood, CA

Published

on

You might remember it as Grauman's Chinese Theatre, where movie stars'hand and foot prints have been immortalized for decades. Now owned by Mann Theatres, the famous tourist spot has been given a new logo and the 800-sq.-ft. Chinese Theatre Store, which sells a variety of branded merchandise, including apparel, jewelry and housewares.

The new identity features a black, red and white representation of the theatre's facade, framed by the searchlight beams that have marked many a Hollywood premiere (a tradition begun by impresario Sid Grauman, by the way). Talk about entertainment retail.

Design: Smullen Design, Pasadena (branding, graphics, visual merchandising)

Suppliers/Fabricators: Penwal Industries, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. (store interiors/fixtures design and fabrication); JGA, Southfield, Mich. (interior designer)
