Barron’s has identified the five best-performing stocks since the beginning of 2021: Gamestop, Dillard’s, Signet Jewelers, At Home Group and Revolve Group.

For anyone who’s followed the landscape of retail stocks, No. 1 is no surprise. Fueled by a mass of individual investors who organized on Reddit, Gamestop has shot up 1,019 percent since the beginning of the year.

During the same period, Dillard’s has jumped 182 percent on the strength of a better-than-expected first quarter.

With the economy still bouncing back, Barron’s suggests more good days are ahead for retail investors.

“Many analysts are predicting a fashion shift – including 90s-inspired items and a focus on comfort – that would further motivate shoppers to refresh their wardrobes. To top it off, increased savings rates have left consumers flush with cash for discretionary purchases – a pattern evident in recent retailer earnings.”
