But company says it still plans to open more Go outlets

Amazon (Seattle) continues to tweak and trim its bricks-and-mortar stores, with its latest move being the closure of eight Go convenience stores: two in Seattle, two in New York and four in San Francisco, C-Store Dive reports.

The closures are effective April 1. Despite that, the company will “continue to open new Amazon Go stores,” a spokesperson told the online news source.

With these closures, the company will have 23 Go stores, the spokesperson said.

The word on the specific number of C-stores closing comes about a month after Amazon said it was pausing the rollout of its Fresh grocery stores and convenience outlets.

Amazon debuted its first cashierless Go store in Seattle in 2018.
