Apple to Gain Beats Real Estate

Headphone maker to broaden Apple's reach to teens

Published

on

Apple’s (Cupertino, Calif.) $3 billion acquisition of Beats Electronics (Santa Monica, Calif.), the headphone maker and music streaming service will mean, among other things, that more Apple products will be marketed through Beats’ retail venues and displays, according to Forbes. Beats has a vast network of displays in retailers, including Target, Walmart and RadioShack, as well as in non-traditional and youth-oriented retailers including skate and surf shops, such as the Pacific Sunwear chain. The affiliation with the Beats brand is expected to give Apple more access to teenage technology shoppers.

Under the terms of the purchase, the largest in Apple’s 38-year history, Apple will continue to market the Beats products under the Beats brand name.
