Former chief merchant promoted to president, ceo of overseas operations

Shelley Broader has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) EMEA, where she will oversee operations and business development in Europe, the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa.

Broader joined Walmart Canada as chief merchandising officer in late 2010 and was promoted to her most recent post as president and ceo of Walmart Canada in 2011. Prior to joining the company, she had more than two decades of experience with retailers including Michaels Stores and Hannaford Brothers, according to Women’s Wear Daily. She will report to David Cheesewright, president and ceo of Walmart International.
