Books-A-Million (Birmingham, Ala.) is expanding its self-publishing platform through a partnership with a Silicon Valley (San Francisco) tech firm.

The 100-year-old retailer entered the self-publishing realm in 2015, according to the Birmingham Business Journal. As part of the new partnership, the most expensive package includes in-store placement of authors’ books as well as online.

“Providing a self-publishing platform that includes the opportunity for in-store distribution is a great way for us to enhance our customer’s experience and support authors who choose the self-publishing path,” said Mary Gallagher, Books-a-Million's executive vp of merchandising.
