Build-A-Bear Workshop Reports Growth

Results from Q1 earnings

Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. (St. Louis) reported a 38-percent earnings-per-share increase in its first-quarter earnings this year, compared to its 2014 Q1 earnings.

Consolidated comparable store sales increased by 2 percent from 2014. Sales in North America were flat, while those in Europe increased 13 percent. The company saw a pretax income increase from $1.7 million to $7.1 million

Build-A-Bear Workshop’s CEO Sharon John said in a statement: “Our year is off to a solid start … This quarter represents our ninth consecutive period of operating performance, demonstrating ongoing momentum due to the successful execution of our stated strategies.

“Our priority is to continue to focus on evolving to a position of sustained and profitable growth and in the quarter. We made progress on several of our 2015 objectives, including reaching an expanded consumer base more profitably with the introduction of successful proprietary and licensed product stories.”
