As part of its ongoing efforts to evolve into a premium lifestyle brand, Roots Corp. (Toronto) has been refreshing several of its stores across Canada this year, along with opening a new flagship in Vancouver and launching its first-ever pilot concept store in Toronto.

The refreshes blend heritage with innovation, showcasing lighter, brighter spaces while incorporating elements of nature. This modern interpretation “of the iconic Roots cabin aesthetic integrates technology, exclusive product offerings, and community-driven experiences, making its locations a distinct destination for locals and visitors alike,” the retailer said in a news release.

“Our stores are more than destinations to shop, they are environments that bring our brand purpose to life,” says Meghan Roach, President & CEO of Roots Corp., which has just over 100 corporate stores across Canada, a similar number of partner-owned outlets in Asia and two in the U.S. “Each space reflects our deep connection to nature, community and craftsmanship. With these new and refreshed locations, we are inviting customers to rediscover the Roots brand.”

Signature design elements at the new Vancouver flagship include a preserved moss wall and custom moss beaver sculpture that pay tribute to the Roots logo and Canada’s natural landscapes. A lightbox ceiling installation features a commissioned image of the city’s Stanley Park, while digital features, including holographic screens, are designed to capture the essence of Vancouver’s outdoor culture and adventurous spirit.

Meantime, in Toronto, the retailer has unveiled a Roots Outpost, a new pilot concept store on Yonge Street. Located in the city’s Rosedale neighborhood, the space is “decorated with archival black-and-white photos, heritage objects and contemporary Canadian art that are combined with warm wood finishes to evoke a personal and authentic Roots experience,” the retailer’s release states.

Roots is no stranger to Yonge Street; the brand opened its first store just down the block from the pilot store on Aug. 15, 1973. “The return to the neighborhood marks a meaningful continuation of the brand’s story,” the release said.
