Scott Moorehead, president and CEO of The Cellular Connection, plans to power up the chain’s presence with 20 store openings in the Midwest and Northeast by the end of this year’s second quarter. “The first step in making the cellular phone shopping experience easier for our customers is to put a new store as close to them as possible,” Moorehead said in a corporate statement. “That’s why we’re making it a goal to expand our presence as much as possible during 2010.”

Along with the new stores comes a new look. Interactive screens above each phone will display its features, digital pricing and details about the unit. “The new layout gives our customers a one-of-a-kind experience whether shopping for their next smartphone or stopping in to pick up a new accessory,” said Jay Sichting, the company’s vice president of corporate operations.

Currently the largest Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer in the Midwest, the 190-store Cellular Connection also has plans to remodel more than 10 existing locations by the end of June.
