Chipotle Mexican Grill (Denver) plans to open 155 to 165 new restaurants in 2012, co-ceo Montgomery Moran announced during a fourth-quarter earnings call with investors, reports QSR magazine.

The expansion plans represent the chain’s largest number of openings in a single year. The company also expects to open a second ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen location in 2012.

John Hartung, Chipotle's chief financial officer, says the company reported its sixth consecutive quarter of double-digit increases in comparable store sales in the fourth quarter.
