Christine Day Named Ceo of Luvo

Ex-Lululemon executive will head nutritious food marketer

Christine Day, who has stepped down as ceo of Lululemon Athletica Inc. (Vancouver, B.C.), has been named ceo of Luvo Inc. (Atlanta), the healthy diet developer, effective April 1.

Day famously resigned from Lululemon last summer, following the uproar over the brand's line of yoga pants that were embarrassingly sheer. Since then, the company has encountered a number of financial and public relations problems. She officially leaves next week.

Luvo founder and president Stephen Sidwell said he was impressed by Day’s experience with Starbucks Corp. (Seattle), where she spent 20 years, at one point heading the coffee chain’s Asia operations.

Luvo markets its meals as chef-inspired fare with no artificial additives or preservatives. The entrees are sold at U.S. mass merchandisers and supermarkets and on Delta flights. Sidwell has said he plans to open branded retail outlets, called Luvo Bistro

Baseball player Derek Jeter was recently named to the Luvo team as a partner and brand-development officer and actress Jennifer Garner has become a spokeswoman for the brand.
