Collective Brands Gets New Owners

Collective Brands (Topeka, Kan.) has been acquired by Wolverine Worldwide, Blum Capital and Golden Gate Capital for $2 billion, plus the assumption of debt, reports Women’s Wear Daily.

Through the agreement, Collective Brands will be split into two parts with Wolverine Worldwide taking over Collective Brands' Performance + Lifestyle Group, which includes the wholesale and retail operations of the Sperry Top-Sider, Saucony, Keds, and Stride Rite brands. Blum Capital and Golden Gate will become joint owners of Payless ShoeSource and Collective Licensing Intl.
