Destination Maternity Corp. (Philadelphia) announced that Emilia Fabricant has resigned from her post as president, a role that she assumed in May. Company ceo Ed Krell will take on the responsibilities and title of president while the maternity apparel retailer launches a national search for a new president, led by the executive recruiting firm Herbert Mines Associates.

“Unfortunately, for personal reasons, I have decided to resign my position as president of Destination Maternity,” says Fabricant. “This decision for me was a very difficult one considering how positive I feel about Destination Maternity and its prospects for the future. However, I have decided that the best thing for my family is to maintain my residence and continue my career in southern California.”

Krell says he’s confident the company can continue to drive significant growth in earnings, while also growing its sales and positioning the company for future growth. The company re-affirmed its earnings guidance for fiscal 2010 and fiscal 2011 earnings.

Destination Maternity operates 1678 stores in the U.S. and Canada under the trade names Motherhood Maternity, A Pea in the Pod and Destination Maternity.
