Dollar General Announces Aggressive Expansion

Dollar General Corp. (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) announced Thursday at its annual “investor day” that it plans to open 1900 new stores by the end of 2017, reports Fortune.

The company has stated it intends for 900 new stores to open this year and another 1000 next year. The move will bring the discount chain up to a total of 15,000 brick-and-mortar locations.

Dollar General has reported same-store sales increases for the 26th consecutive year, and stock prices remain strong.
