Retailer opens 14 new department stores in one day

J.C. Penney Co. Inc. (Plano, Texas) opened 14 new stores on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007. According to Chain Store Age, the new stores are part of the department store retailer’s previously announced plans to open 250 new stores over the next five years.

The new stores are in Alabaster, Ala.; Phoenix; Montrose, Colo.; Nampa, Idaho; North Aurora and Montgomery, Ill.; Colerain, Ohio; Midwest City and Moore, Okla.; Burlington, N.C.; Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Hampton, Va.; and San Antonio and Cypress, Texas.
