The Fresh Market Inc. (Greensboro, N.C.) has announced it will relocate its current store in Ponte Vedra, Fla., to anchor Corridors at Ponte Vedra.

The 38,000 square-foot anchor space previously used by another grocer will be subdivided. Approximately 26,000 square feet will be reconfigured to accommodate Fresh Market's prototypical store format. The remaining space will feature additional retail. The store plans an opening of mid-year 2007.

“We are excited about the opportunity to relocate our current store location in the Ponte Vedra market,” said Randy Kelley, Fresh Market vp, real estate. “We feel confident that our new site and expanded store layout will allow us to better serve our customers.”

The upscale Corridors at Ponte Vedra, developed by Edens & Avant (Columbia, S.C.), is at the intersection of Tournament Players Boulevard and A1A North, outside of Jacksonville.

“We have been fortunate to work closely with The Fresh Market on a number of deals and felt this was a substantial opportunity for them as well as residents here,” said Lyle Darnall, Edens & Avant vp, development – Southeast. “Their newest store format offers an incredible shopping experience that was designed for the demographic you find in this market and will set the bar for planned future improvements to our center.” The Fresh Market operates nearly 60 full-service upscale specialty grocery stores in over 10 U.S. states, specializing in fruits and vegetables, meat, and seafood. The chain plans to open eight to 10 stores per year moving forward. Its first store in Pennsylvania is set to open in 2006.
