While GameStop Corp. (Grapevine, Texas) is closing about 120-130 U.S. stores this year, the Dallas Morning News reports that the video game and entertainment software retailer expects to open or buy 300-400 stores from its newly acquired brands: Simply Mac, Spring Mobile and Cricket.

Simply Mac is an authorized Apple retailer that is opening stores in smaller cities where Apple isn't planning to open stores of its own.

The other two chains are in the wireless business and have support from Apple and AT&T to help pay for new store openings.

According the the Dallas Morning News, GameStop ceo Paul Raines told analysts on Tuesday that each one of its three new technology store brands has the potential to become $1 billion businesses.
