Hartmarx Names New Head of Womenswear

Susan Falk is former president of Henri Bendel, Express, Body Shop

Hartmarx Corp. (New York) has named Susan Falk group president of womenswear. Falk will report to chairman and ceo Homi Patel as of Jan. 15, 2004.

She will be responsible for the profitability, and will oversee the sales, marketing, merchandising and operations of, all Hartmarx women’s businesses, which include international women’s apparel, Austin Reed, Barrie Pace, Exclusively Misook and Andrea Jovine.

“Over the last few years, through acquisitions and organic growth, our women’s business has become an increasingly important part of our company,” Patel said. “More importantly, we see substantial growth in the future. We are pleased that somebody with Susan’s credentials and experience will be spearheading this business for Hartmarx.”

Falk spent 12 years with The Limited Inc. (Columbus, Ohio), where she was president and ceo of Henri Bendel from l990 – l995, and president and ceo of The Express division from l995 – l997. Prior to that, Falk was president of Diane Von Furstenberg (New York). Most recently, she was president of The Body Shop International (London) and president of the Avenue Division of United Retail Group Inc. (Rochelle Park, N.J.).
