Retailer makes several executive promotions, names new president

Lowe's Companies Inc. (Wilkesboro, N.C.) has promoted Robert Niblock to president, and made several other executive moves.

Niblock, currently executive vp and cfo, will be responsible for store operations, merchandising, logistics and distribution. He will continue to report to chairman and ceo Robert Tillman.

In the other moves: Larry Stone, executive vp, operations, has been promoted to senior executive vp, operations (Stone has been credited with driving the successful design and implementation of Lowe's current store format); Dale Pond, executive vp, merchandising, has been promoted to senior executive vp, merchandising; and Robert Hull, vp, financial planning and analysis, has been promoted to senior vp and cfo.
