H&M Sales Beat Expectations

New online markets help boost figures

Published

on

Fueled by broadened online coverage in new markets, Hennes & Mauritz AB (Stockholm) saw its November sales rise at a higher pace than predicted by analysts. Actual November 2014 figures were 10 percent higher than a year earlier. H&M began selling its merchandise via the Internet to shoppers in France, Italy, Spain and China this year, which helped push November sales figures past the predicted 8.4 percent gain.  Also helping to boost sales figures was the launch of a well-received guest line by designer Alexander Wang.

According to Business Week, revenues at H&M, Europe’s second-largest clothing retailer, rose 14 percent in the 12-month period ending Nov. 30.
