Outplacement firm Challenger (Chicago) released a report predicting hiring for this year’s holiday season. According to the report, most holiday retail hiring will remain on par with last year’s numbers. For instance, Target (Minneapolis) released plans to hire 70,000 holiday workers this year, which is about the same as it has hired for the past two years. In 2014, retailers added 755,000 employees between October and December.

Toys “R” Us (Wayne, N.J.), however, announced that it plans to decrease the number of holiday employees this year, though those who are hired can expect to work more hours. In total, it plans to hire 40,000 workers, who will mostly work as part-time employees, reports Chicago Tribune. Last year, it hired 45,000 workers.
