French retailer Ikks (Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges, France) opened its first standalone store in London.

Women’s Wear Daily reports Ikks joins fellow contemporary brands like Maje, Sandro, Gerard Darel and Zadig & Voltaire on Mayfair’s South Molton Street.

The minimal 540-square-foot space will offer the label’s women’s collection first before incorporating its popular junior collection.

“Due to high rents, it’s easier to establish a profitable shop with an adult line. If I had a dream for our second London shop it would be that it carries both the men’s and women’s ranges. The third step would be to bring the junior line to the U.K. market,” says Pierre-André Cauche, Ikks ceo.

Ikks currently operates a network of 750 boutiques across Germany, France, Spain and the Middle East.
